About The Role
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Inverness

The Project: Nairn Academy
Join Balfour Beatty’s North Scotland Building team as a Quantity Surveyor, supporting the successful delivery of one of our key education projects in the Highlands — Nairn Academy.
We are currently on site at Nairn Academy, a major school redevelopment forming part of our strategic growth in the North. This project sits alongside significant ongoing and upcoming work in the region, including:
- HMP Highland
- Preconstruction activity for Forres (£80m)
Making this an exciting time to join our experienced commercial team. As the QS, you'll play a key role in ensuring commercial excellence across this modern education facility, helping us deliver a high-quality learning environment for the community.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Manage all project costs and income within your area of responsibility
- Support procurement
- Contribute to commercial strategy and reporting across the project
- Work closely with the wider project team and external supply chain partners to ensure best value and robust commercial governance
- Support and mentor less experienced commercial team members
Key Responsibilities
- Manage costs, income, and financial reporting for your work packages
- Measure, value and interpret works information, drawings, and specifications
- Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost reconciliations, and estimates from first principles
- Use digital systems and ERP platforms to manage data and reporting
- Support procurement activities — subcontract enquiries, adjudication and award
- Understand and manage customer contracts, stakeholder engagement and variations
- Contribute to planning commercial activities aligned to project programme requirements

Who We're Looking For
- BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- CSCS (Academically/Professionally Qualified)
- MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working toward qualification
- Strong measurement, commercial administration, and procurement capability
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider project team
