Job Description

A major Building contractor who are known as a real market leader in their field, delivering large scale construction projects the length and breadth of the UK.

This arm of the business specialises in Refurbishment & Building Improvement works.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will play an important role within the Commercial Team, working closely with project delivery teams to manage project costs, procurement, and commercial performance across a range of refurbishment and building improvement works.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the continued growth and success of the business while developing their professional career within a supportive environment.

The role will be primarily home-based working; however, applicants should be based in central Scotland within commuting distance of sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial and contractual arrangements associated with client projects.
  • Support the pricing, negotiation and agreement of project costs, budgets, and variations.
  • Monitor project financial performance and assist in controlling costs and expenditure.
  • Procure subcontractor packages and materials to support project delivery.
  • Prepare subcontract documentation and manage commercial relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress against budgets and identify financial risks or opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting interim valuations and agreeing final accounts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and project cost reporting.
  • Prepare financial and management reports to support project monitoring.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure commercial awareness across projects.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Experience working within the construction industry (refurbishment works).
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, procurement, and project valuation processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS) – desirable
