Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Team Role | Utilities Sector

A leading service provider in the utilities sector is recruiting through Finlay Jude Associates for an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join and strengthen their commercial team.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and seasoned Quantity Surveyor to help drive successful commercial project management, ensuring profitability while delivering uncompromising client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Control: Collaborate cross-functionally to capture, analyse, and manage project spending.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to align projects with business objectives.
  • Contract Management: Oversee NEC3/NEC4 main contracts—issuing status updates, notices, and correspondence.
  • subcontract Administration: Prepare and issue critical subcontractor documentation.
  • Subcontractor Management: Evaluate and chaperone subcontractor performance.
  • Payment Processes: Lead preparation/approval of payment applications.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop budgets, forecasts, and cost-value reporting.
  • Team Mentorship: Guide and develop junior commercial staff.
  • Professional Development: Upskill through continuous learning initiatives.
  • Problem-Solving: Adopt a solution-focused mindset when addressing challenges.

Essential Requirements

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartership status in progress or awarded by a recognised surveys association (e.g., RICS, CIAT).
  • Industry-specific experience: Utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors.
  • Competence in NEC3/NEC4 contract models.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience managing and mentoring teams from individual to small-group levels.
  • Knowledge of CEMAR (Civil Engineering Measurement Rules).
