Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Team | Wellingborough

Job Overview

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM Site Solutions, a busy contracting business based in Wellingborough, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This role involves primary commercial support for delivery teams, with a focus on integrated temporary works packages across a diverse portfolio of projects.

You’ll gain genuine breadth by working on varied packages, collaborating with subject matter experts, and developing a well-rounded commercial skill set in a fast-paced operational environment. The right candidate can expect strong career progression within a structured, high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial performance management

    • Overseeing and taking ownership of commercial progress for assigned packages
    • Compiling monthly cost and revenue data, monitoring budgets, actuals, and forecasts
    • Negotiating account queries to secure interim payments
  • Subcontractor & supply chain management

    • Managing subcontractor relationships and developing consistent SLAs
    • Resolving queries promptly to ensure smooth project progression

  • Tendering & procurement

    • Commercially signing off tender submissions in collaboration with estimators
    • Analysing returns to ensure best value and compliance
    • Supporting the procurement of labour and materials
  • Cost control & value engineering

    • Tracking cost progress across projects and identifying risks/opportunities
    • Conducting robust project-level costing to align progress claims with completed works
    • Advising on CIS applications, valuations, and invoice disputes
  • Broader commercial support

    • Acting as a central deposit of commercial knowledge for internal stakeholders
    • Providing guidance on CIS compliance and maintaining stakeholder relationships

Requirements & Qualities

✔ A valid Quantity Surveyor qualification with firm experience in the role ✔ Strong professional knowledge of subcontract management and commercial processes ✔ Confidence in handling applications, valuations, and invoice disputes efficiently ✔ In-depth understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) ✔ Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple projects ✔ Sharp communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and with suppliers/clients
