AWS: Principal Quantum & Cryptography Sales Specialist – UK Public Sector

About the Role

AWS is seeking a Principal Quantum & Cryptography Sales Specialist to lead the adoption of quantum computing, cryptography, and cybersecurity services across the full breadth of UK Public Sector. This includes Central Government, National Security, Defence, Transport, NHS, Local Government, Education, and Non-Profit Organisations.

You’ll play a pivotal role in helping the UK’s most critical public institutions:

  • Build cybersecurity resilience today
  • Prepare for a quantum-safe future

This is an exceptional opportunity to drive commercial strategy for AWS quantum, cryptography, and security services across all UK Public Sector segments, combining enterprise sales, emerging technology, and public sector transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, high-value sales engagements across:

    • Classified national security environments
    • NHS trusts
    • Local councils
    • Education sector organisations
  • Develop and execute GTM strategy for AWS quantum, cryptography, and cybersecurity services, including:

    • Amazon Braket
    • Post-quantum TLS
    • AWS Security Hub
    • GuardDuty
    • KMS
    • CloudHSM
  • Partner with senior public sector leaders to position AWS as the platform of choice for:

    • Cybersecurity resilience
    • Quantum-safe transformation
  • Operate with full autonomy to:

    • Shape strategy
    • Build pipelines
    • Close high-impact deals

Detailed Accountabilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Drive revenue growth through multi-stakeholder sales across:

    • Central Government
    • Defence
    • National Security
    • NHS
    • Local Government
    • Education
    • Non-Profits
  • Navigate both classified and unclassified environments.

  • Develop a go-to-market strategy and high-value use cases, such as:

    • Threat detection
    • Zero-trust architecture
    • Cryptographic modernisation
    • Post-quantum migration planning
    • Secure patient data
    • Citizen data protection
    • Research data security
  • Utilise value-based selling to connect AWS solutions to operational resilience, regulatory compliance, citizen trust, and national security outcomes.

  • Differentiate AWS against:

    • Specialist cybersecurity vendors
    • Sovereign cryptographic solutions
    • Alternative quantum platforms

  • Collaborate with:

  • Contribute market insights to AWS product teams to influence:

    • Sovereign security capabilities

    • Post-quantum cryptography
    • Quantum-safe architectures

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with:

    • Solutions Architects
    • Security specialists
    • Technical teams
  • Ensure customer-specific expertise is applied during engagements.

Day in the Life

  • Morning: Brief a Central Government CISO on cryptographic modernisation and post-quantum readiness.
  • Midday: Engage with an NHS trust’s IT security lead to enhance threat detection and data protection.
  • Afternoon: Collaborate with a Solutions Architect to outline a quantum-safe pilot for Defence or design a deal structure that balances classified procurement and NHS frameworks.
  • Ongoing: Connect with account teams, security-cleared partners, and AWS product groups to translate real-world insights into strategy.

About the Team

Join the AWS UK Public Sector Specialist Sales team, composed of domain experts who blend commercial rigor with a strong mission-driven mindset.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working with and selling to C-level executives (CIOs, CISOs, etc.), IT stakeholders, procurement, finance, legal, and technical teams for sizeable commercial/enterprise deals.
  • Expertise in developing detailed go-to-market plans.
  • Proven experience in multi-stakeholder negotiations with executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Sales background in cybersecurity and/or cryptography, preferably within public sector organisations.
  • Strong track record in enterprise/public sector sales, with success in closing complex, high-value deals.
  • Ability to articulate value propositions around technology in competitive markets, ideally in cybersecurity, cryptography, or adjacent domains.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and ability to:
    • Rapidly learn new technical domains
    • Apply knowledge in emerging fields like quantum computing and post-quantum cryptography.
  • Existing UK Security Clearance, or willingness to:
    • Undergo and maintain UK national security vetting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling quantum computing solutions, including applications relevant to public sector organisations.
  • Existing Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
  • Understanding of:
    • Cryptographic principles
    • Key management
    • NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standards
  • Knowledge of:
    • Public sector procurement frameworks such as:
      • G-Cloud
      • Crown Commercial Service
      • NHS Shared Business Services
      • Local government buying consortia
  • Experience in specialist sales or working within a cybersecurity practice.
  • Awareness of:
    • Sovereign cloud requirements
    • Air-gapped deployment models
    • NCSC-approved security architectures
