Mission
The Quantum Software Engineer will play a key role in bridging research and software engineering by transforming experimental quantum software into production-ready solutions. The position focuses on developing scalable Python libraries for quantum benchmarking and error reduction while collaborating with quantum researchers and software engineering teams to deliver robust, maintainable, and user-oriented software supporting both internal development and external users.

Quantum Software Development
- Develop and maintain production-quality Python libraries focused on quantum benchmarking, characterization, error mitigation, and error suppression.
- Transform validated research prototypes into robust, reusable, and maintainable software components.
- Design intuitive APIs and software interfaces that facilitate adoption by researchers and customers.
Software Engineering and Quality
- Own the software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code quality controls, and documentation.
- Ensure software reliability, scalability, and maintainability across releases.
Validation and Technical Excellence
- Validate software solutions using real quantum computing hardware to guarantee compatibility and operational performance.
- Identify and resolve software issues proactively while supporting long-term maintainability.
- Contribute technical ideas and innovative approaches to improve benchmarking methodologies and quantum error reduction techniques.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with quantum scientists, physicists, and software engineering teams to align research objectives with production software requirements.
- Participate in feature planning, software architecture decisions, and technical coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote engineering best practices and facilitate collaboration between research and software development organizations.

Required Qualifications
- MSc in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional experience developing software in Python.
- Experience with modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, version control, and code review processes.
- Hands-on experience with Python-based quantum computing SDKs such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Qrisp, or similar frameworks.
- Solid understanding of quantum computing fundamentals, including quantum circuits, gates, measurements, and observables.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a Quantum Software Engineer or in a comparable quantum computing software role.
- Experience with quantum characterization, benchmarking, quantum error mitigation, or error suppression techniques.
- Experience developing software within research-driven or highly technical R&D environments.
- Familiarity with scalable software architectures for scientific computing and production software delivery.
