The Role
We’re recruiting a Quarry Manager to oversee operations at our Red Barns Quarry, based at our Throckley Factory.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety leadership: Responsible for safety management across all quarry operations and compliance with company policies (SHEQ).
- Regulatory compliance:
- Full implementation of Quarries Regulations 1999 and 2008 (amended), ensuring adherence to all government health and safety legislation.
- Regular monitoring of legal updates and industry best practices.
- Contractor oversight: Managing external contractors both on-site and estates-side.
- Operational planning:
- Formulating quarrying strategies to maximise mineral extraction efficiency.
- Ensuring production targets are met safely while maintaining stock levels.
- Performance reporting:
- Tracking and providing data-driven insights on quarry performance.
- Preparing statistical reports and writing development proposals.
- Financial stewardship: Managing and controlling the quarry’s budget.
- Admin and recordkeeping: Maintaining up-to-date documentation and coordinating paperwork.
- Specialised knowledge:
- Developing understanding of clay technology and ceramics to support our production factories.
- Basic familiarity with mobile plant mechanics and possessing an MPQC Competent Operator card (e.g. for quarry vehicles like tractors or 4x4s).
- Continuous professional development (CPD): Annual completion of submissions.

Essential Requirements
✔ Demonstrated experience (or progression) as a Clay Quarry Manager. ✔ Enrolment onto a Clay Quarries Continuous Personal Development programme (through BCC or IOM3). ✔ Completion of either: - IOSH Managing Safely certificate, or - NEBOSH General Certificate.
