Quarry Supervisor
Killerby Quarry, near Catterick, North Yorkshire

Are you an experienced Quarry Supervisor, Assistant Quarry Manager, Production Manager or Section Manager looking for a fresh challenge?
We're looking for a hands-on, people-focused Quarry Supervisor to take ownership of quarrying operations at Tarmac's Killerby Quarry. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a busy quarry with full operational accountability. You’ll manage, coach and develop a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence as well as having the opportunity to influence business performance through KPIs, budgets and operational strategy.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Quarry Supervisor you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable management of all quarrying operations on site. As well as leading, coaching and developing a skilled and motivated operational team, safety, compliance and operational performance will be at the heart of everything you do.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing quarry extraction activities to maximise efficiency and productivity
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
- Managing operational budgets, costs and resource planning
- Producing and analysing operational and performance reports
- Maintaining effective stock management processes
- Ensuring all plant, equipment and mobile assets are operated safely and maintained effectively in accordance with all legislation, policies and procedures
- Implementing and reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work and standard operating procedures
- Investigating incidents, near misses and unsafe working practices
- Managing training plans and maintaining an up-to-date training matrix
- Monitoring and reporting KPIs, driving operational performance and business improvement

Working Pattern:
Monday to Friday (Days) and Saturday (AM) - flexibility is required to support operational and customer requirements when needed.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced operational leader with a strong background in quarrying, extractives, or a similar heavy industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a quarry and/or asphalt operation. You will also possess:
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience managing budgets and operational performance
- Strong understanding of Quarries Regulations 1999
- Understanding of Regulation 8.1(c & d) appointments, and willing to work towards obtaining an appointment to help run site and management cover as required
- Diploma in Quarry Technology or FdSc Extractives Technology
- SHE NVQ Level 4 / QCF Level 6
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive positive change
- A thorough understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Knowledge of production processes, health and safety and environmental standards
- Strong IT skills (SAP, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (advantageous)
This role is easily commutable from Catterick, Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Richmond, Boroughbridge, Harrogate, Wetherby, York and the surrounding areas.
