Quotation Specialist

Technical Quotation Specialist

Location: Gloucester / Tewkesbury / Cheltenham region

Salary: GBP55k + car / allowance + generous benefits

Our client, a long-established company specialising in precision engineered components and solutions, is seeking an experienced and proactive Technical Sales / Technical Quotation Specialist. The role involves identifying and developing profitable new business opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships to meet strategic business targets.

Reporting to the Head of Sales and Business Development, and based near Gloucester, the successful candidate will be a strong communicator and relationship builder. They will be responsible for:

  • Negotiating and influencing both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring service levels meet and exceed world-class standards
  • Managing the entire sales and business development process from customer engagement to quotation generation, pipeline management, and delivering customer satisfaction

Responsibilities

Core duties within this varied and challenging role include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating technical quotations for complex precision-machined parts
  • Reviewing incoming business opportunities and quotation cases to align solutions with business KPIs
  • Assisting in the development of business strategy for market opportunities
  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure requirements can be met, or negotiating alternatives with customers as needed
  • Conducting customer liaison, including site visits and trade fair attendance
  • Converting opportunities into successful purchase orders and introducing new contracts to colleagues to capture contractual, specification, and quality requirements
  • Reporting business development activity, quotation performance, and win rates to senior leadership
  • Performing CRM management and making data-driven bid/no-bid decisions

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally hold:

  • A relevant qualification to at least HNC level or higher (Preferred in Production Engineering, Sales & Marketing, or Project Management)

They will also demonstrate strong knowledge of:

  • Modern CNC manufacturing methods for high-precision parts (ranging from 3mm to 3m)
  • Materials, processes, treatments, and quality standards relevant to high-compliance industries
  • Negotiation and commercial acumen in precision engineering quotations
  • A proven track record of successfully winning new business in compliance-driven technical and engineering sectors

Advantageous experience includes:

  • Expertise in high-compliance work packages bidding
  • Hands-on knowledge of contracts and negotiations within the precision engineering industry
