POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented, and motivated person to join our management team! Bagel Place is a venue where students manage students. Our ideal candidate has a passion for managing and is up to the task of leading fellow students.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ability to prioritize role while balancing class load is a must to succeed in position. Must have ability to attain ServSafe Manager Certification. Available for in person training beginning August 3rd, 2026.

Hours Required

Approximately 20-25 hours per week – flexible schedule/varies throughout the semester. Hours typically heavier between August - October due to staff training, problem solving, and other issues that may arise in reopening the venue and the Fall Semester.

RATE OF PAY

$18.00/hour base pay + Credit Card, Cash, and RamCash Tips

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all student employees, including supervisors and assistant managers. Must have the ability to delegate tasks efficiently to assistant managers, acting as a leader. This includes, but is not limited to hiring, scheduling, inventory management, food safety protocol, disciplinary processes, and Grub Hub operations.
  • Oversee all shop operations, ensuring the shop is running effectively and efficiently. Responsible for maintaining the overall work environment and shop success. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner. Must be able to relay relevant and pertinent information with student staff, assistant managers, and Dining Services Pro Staff.
  • Ensures all food safety and sanitation standards are adhered to in the areas of food handling, food storage, work areas, and employee attire. Attends Environmental Health Services special departmental trainings with staff. Oversee the proper operation, sanitation, and routine maintenance of all equipment. Delegates work orders to assistants and ensure input through LSC Operations in timely manner.
  • Ability to attain ServSafe Manager Certification is expected.
  • Manage employee illness logs and ensure safe food handling agreements are signed and protocol met (condition of student employment).
  • Updates employee handbook, as necessary, and all other shop paperwork/policies, as necessary. Must be transparent with student staff about any changes and assist them in learning and upholding the changes as well.
  • Oversee and is responsible for inventory management. Ensure that assistant managers complete End of Month Inventory and submit orders correctly and in timely manner. Ensures all items are properly stocked, labeled, and stored. Position is ultimately accountable for not running out of any product.
  • Approve student employee hours biweekly through Workday. Submits Credit Card Tips biweekly.
  • Utilizes Excel, Clover and GrubHub Dashboard to complete Profit and Loss Statements biweekly.
  • Create and manage schedules for staff through When to Work, accommodating for individual schedules. Rebuilds the schedule for Dead and Finals weeks.
  • Coordinates, attends, and engages in weekly management meetings with Assistant Director of Lory Dining and Retail Food Service Manager. Attends and encourages team attendance to a variety of professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct Supervisor Meetings as-needed and All-Staff Meetings once a semester. Provide guidance and strategies to handle customer complaints/suggestions and answer questions about food allergens in menu items.
  • Supervise the hiring process with support of assistant manager(s). Communicate with Pro Staff regarding Workday post and shop needs when hiring. Reviews applications, coordinates interviews, and extends job offers in a timely manner. Meets with management team to review completed interviews and determine which candidates should be hired or rejected.
  • Works closely with assistant manager(s) and supervisors to coordinate training of new hires. Must be able to clearly outline all expectations, including but not limited to, product quality, great customer service, food safety standards, unacceptable behaviors, etc.
  • Responsible for training supervisors on additional responsibilities including health code procedures, and disciplinary action. Onboards assistant manager(s) to ensure they have the necessary knowledge to complete their assigned duties successfully.
  • Oversee all employee disciplinary processes. May consist of verbal warnings, written violations, individual/management meetings with staff, or termination of student’s employment. Hold management team responsible for ensuring disciplinary processes are upheld in a manner that is both appropriate and civil.
  • Responsible for holding team accountable to meet department standards such as uniform policy, discount policy, food safety, product quality, and customer service standards.
  • Monitors quality of all menu items for consistency, ensuring staff and leadership team uphold standards.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner, embodies CSU Principles of Community, and creates a safe and inclusive environment for all. Welcomes feedback and works closely with Retail Food Production Manager and Assistant Director or Lory Dining to succeed during time in role.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.
