Virology Student Laboratory Assistant (Open)

Position Summary
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Virology Section is seeking a laboratory support student.
The successful candidate will have a desire to learn daily diagnostic lab processes and procedures, be highly motivated, detail orientated, and responsible. Additional hours may be available dependent on diagnostic case load and support needs.
Required availability: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Preferred availability: Monday from 8-5, Wednesday from 8-12, Friday from 8-12. Holidays and weekends are excluded. Starting dates are flexible depending on course schedule and availability (April or May). Work study awards are accepted but not required. This is an on campus-in person position.

- Laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
Essential Duties
- Detailed record keeping and data entry
- Daily laboratory operations: cleaning, dish washing, temperature and equipment monitoring, inventory, etc.
- Handling and organization of diagnostic samples (Ex. blood and tissues)
- Assist with diagnostic assays as deemed appropriate by laboratory manager and section head
- Clerical duties: filing, preparing paperwork, etc.
