Your new role
Southend-on-Sea city council are seeking a highly organised and proactive administrator to join the customer support team on a full-time and permanent basis. This is a key role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the business, providing administrative support, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Provide general administrative support
- Manage and maintain electronic and paper filing systems
- Handle incoming emails, telephone calls, and correspondence professionally
- Room booking administration
- Chaperone licenses
- Maintain accurate records and databases, ensuring information is up to date
- Process and track invoices and purchase orders
- Post room including incoming and outgoing post and parcels
- Signing in contractors
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this post, previous experience in an administrative or office support role is essential.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work independently
- A professional and positive attitude with a customer-focused approach
- A passion for excellent customer service and a "can do" attitude is also essential for this role
