Company Description

RFTRONICS UK is a specialist RF and mm-wave engineering consultancy supporting organizations that deliver critical RF programs. The company strengthens engineering teams facing schedule or technical pressure by reviewing architectures, challenging assumptions, and de-risking designs. Areas of expertise include power amplifiers, transceivers, RF budgets, front-end systems, layout review, and a wide range of RF component design. RFTRONICS UK integrates seamlessly with client teams, providing practical guidance that supports robust technical decisions and efficient project delivery. The focus is on enabling successful outcomes without disruption to existing workflows.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Radio Frequency Engineer role based in Greater Nottingham. The Radio Frequency Engineer will design, develop, and optimize RF and mm-wave circuits and systems, including PAs, transceivers, and front-end architectures for client projects. The role involves reviewing and refining RF budgets, supporting PCB layout and design-for-manufacture, and contributing to design reviews to de-risk architectures. The engineer will collaborate closely with client and internal teams, document findings, and provide clear technical recommendations to support critical RF programs.

Qualifications

  • Strong RF Design and RF Circuits skills, with experience in developing and optimizing RF and mm-wave components and subsystems.
  • Circuit Design expertise, including schematic capture, PCB-level RF layout considerations, and familiarity with RF simulation tools.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Network Analyzer and Spectrum Analyzer equipment for characterization, testing, and troubleshooting RF hardware.
  • Solid understanding of RF architectures, RF budgets, and front-end system design, including PAs, transceivers, and matching networks.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in a lab environment, including safe handling of RF equipment and adherence to test and measurement best practices.
  • Ability to interpret datasheets, specifications, and standards relevant to RF and mm-wave systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document test results and present design recommendations.
  • Collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience with RF CAD and simulation tools (e.g., ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS) is highly beneficial.
