Role Overview

Position Title

Radiology Department Assistant (Developmental: Band 2 → Band 3 progression)

Contract & Pay

  • Grade: Band 2 (£25,272)
  • Pay progression to Band 3 upon completion of training
  • Full/Part-time roles available
  • Permanent contract
  • Weekly hours: 37.5 hours
  • Staff Group: Additional Clinical Services

Key Responsibilities

Role Purpose

Providing care and support for individuals through diagnostic and interventional activities as part of a multi-disciplinary team in acute hospitals and community sites (e.g., Gosport, Fareham, Petersfield).

Primary Duties

  • Assist Sonographers and Radiographers in:
    • Preparing patients for imaging
    • Providing care during imaging (reassuring anxious patients)
    • Supporting post-procedure care
  • Ensure efficient and smooth imaging processes while prioritising patient safety and experience
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold Trust values (respect, dignity, courtesy)
  • Operate within your sphere of competence at all times
  • Interact professionally with:
    • Patients, service users, carers
    • Registered healthcare professionals
    • Social care staff, administration, management

Requirements

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English & Maths
  • Basic ICT skills
  • Demonstrable compassion and hands-on care in a hospital environment
  • Driving licence or access to public transport (post involves community work)

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in care (or relevant modules)
  • Articulate communication skills
  • Good standard of education
  • Familiarity with the NHS structure and values
