Job Title: Radiology Department Assistant (Band 2)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Radiology Department Assistant (Band 2, £25,272) for a developmental role.

  • Role status: Full-time or part-time
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Progression: Starts at Band 2, transitions to Band 3 upon successful completion of training
  • Location: Acute hospitals and community sites (including Gosport, Fareham, and Petersfield)

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide care and support to patients across diagnostic and interventional radiology services within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Support Sonographers/Radiographers in:
    • Preparing patients for imaging procedures
    • Ensuring patient comfort and safety during exams
    • Reassuring patients during anxious moments
    • Assisting with post-procedure care
    • Facilitating a smooth and efficient imaging experience
  • Maintain patient safety, high standards of care, and a positive patient experience across all interactions—with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Consistently work within your competence level and adhere to National Health and Safety policies
  • Collaborate effectively with:
    • Patients, service users, and carers
    • Registered and non-registered healthcare professionals
    • Social care staff, administration, management, and non-clinical teams

Essential & Desirable Qualifications

Essential

✔ GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English & Maths ✔ ICT skills (ability to use digital tools and software) ✔ Determination to deliver compassionate, hands-on patient care in a hospital environment ✔ Valid driving licence or reliable transport access (due to working at community sites)
