Radiology Department Assistant

Role: Experienced Radiology Department Assistant

Location: The London Bridge Hospital and The Shard Outpatients, part of the London Bridge Hospital Campus, Central London

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), Shift Pattern: 7.5-hour shifts between 08:00 and 20:00 (Permanent)

Salary: Competitive and dependent on skills and experience, plus fantastic benefits, including private healthcare.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiology Department Assistant to join the Imaging team at The London Bridge Hospital and The Shard Outpatients—currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC.

The London Bridge Hospital Campus in South East London includes:

  • The large, world-class hospital at the Tooley Street site
  • Outpatients and diagnostic centres in The Shard
  • Private Care at Guys, located on the top four floors of the Guys Hospital Cancer Centre
  • Additional outpatients and diagnostic centres across The City and Canary Wharf

You will support the Imaging team across both London Bridge Hospital and The Shard Outpatients, working flexibly across a range of services including:

  • Women’s health clinics
  • Breast imaging
  • Gynaecology
  • General ultrasound clinics

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Consultants, Radiographers, and Nurses during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing and supporting patients throughout their visit
  • Managing appointments and registrations using Meditech
  • Utilising PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Undertaking various administrative duties

This is a rotational role requiring adaptability, strong teamwork, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

✅ Previous experience as a Radiology Department Assistant within a hospital setting ✅ Strong expertise supporting ultrasound services, including women’s health and/or breast imaging ✅ NVQ Level 3, Care Certificate, or equivalent healthcare qualification ✅ Proficiency in clinical systems and patient administration, including IT skills ✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first mindset ✅ Ability to work effectively across multiple clinics and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

Ability to demonstrate self-motivation, flexibility, and a strong collaboration mindset
