Radiology Department Assistant – London Bridge Hospital & The Shard Outpatients
Location
The London Bridge Hospital and The Shard Outpatients, part of London Bridge Hospital Campus, Central London.
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Radiology Department Assistant to join our Imaging team at two CQC-rated Outstanding healthcare facilities in London.
The London Bridge Hospital Campus comprises:
- A world-class hospital in Tooley Street
- Outpatient and diagnostic centres in The Shard and adjacent areas
- PrivateCare at Guy’s (top four floors of Guy’s Cancer Centre)
- Additional facilities across City and Canary Wharf
Within this multi-site healthcare environment, the Radiology Department Assistant supports diverse ultrasound services, including:
- Women’s health imaging
- Breast imaging
- Gynaecology clinics
- General ultrasound departments
This role is rotational, requiring adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
About the Role
As a Radiology Department Assistant, you will:
- Assist Consultants, Radiographers, and Nurses during examinations and procedures.
- Assist patients with preparation and support during diagnostic visits.
- Manage appointments and registrations using Meditech.
- Use PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for imaging.
- Undertake administrative duties, including scheduling and record-keeping.
Key responsibility areas: ✔ Supporting ultrasound clinics in women’s health, breast imaging, and general care ✔ Aiding patient preparation and comfort during procedures ✔ Managing clinical schedules and patient administration systems ✔ Operating within a dynamic, multi-clinic healthcare environment

Key Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Radiology Department Assistant within a hospital setting.
- Experience supporting ultrasound services, particularly in women’s health, gynaecology, or breast imaging.
- NVQ Level 3 (Advanced), Care Certificate, or equivalent healthcare qualification.
- Strong IT proficiency, including experience with clinical systems (e.g., Meditech) and PACS.

- Ability to work independently across multiple clinics while adapting to changing priorities.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities for record-keeping and coordination.
