Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person to be become part of our Clinical Computing team in Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS).
Main duties of the job
Working collaboratively with clinical and scientific staff, you will be supporting the clinical radiotherapy service to treat our patients though the safe and effective repair and maintenance of clinical radiotherapy systems and technical infrastructure, such as VMware, Citrix, Veeam, and Active Directory supporting our 12 Elekta VersaHD linacs, 3 Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT Simulators, a Flexitron remote afterloading unit, Gamma Knife ICON, and MR simulator. In addition to this wide variety of equipment, your knowledge and experience in managing medical devices will serve you well as you join our multidisciplinary project teams to provide clinical computing infrastructure expertise in the implementation of new medical technologies to improve patient care.

Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS) sits within the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, part of the Oncology Clinical Service Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The team is made up of four specialist groupsClinical Computing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Technical Serviceswho work closely together in multidisciplinary workgroups to support the safe and effective use of radiotherapy equipment. The atmosphere is highly collaborative and innovative, bringing together clinical expertise and scientific problem-solving to manage equipment, introduce new technologies, and ensure seamless service delivery. The teams strong work ethic is centred on precision, reliability, and continuous improvement, all with the shared goal of enhancing patient care.

Our Clinical Computing team consists of 4 highly-skilled Clinical Technologists who are committed to enhancing patient safety through their technical expertise and knowledge of our high risk, critical radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery systems and workflows.
What makes our team unique is the wide scope of practice and diverse daily activities while collaborating with a large department of clinical and scientific staff. We focus on problem-solving that leads to meaningful improvements in our patients treatment experiences. This includes implementing innovative systems and cutting-edge systems, like AI-assisted treatment planning tools, to improve patient outcomes while reducing manual human intervention.

What You Will Bring To The Role

Lead and participate in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of clinical radiotherapy technologies such as:
- Radiotherapy pre-treatment and treatment delivery system
- Specialised clinical application.
- Server operating systems and hardware.
- Virtualisation and VMware
- Data storage technologies and backups
- Domain administration and group policy

Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of own work for medical equipment maintenance and fault resolution on computerised equipment.

Actively participate in the training of medical engineering apprentices and trainees in clinical computing and medical equipment management skills.

Develop and update processes that are relevant to own areas of expertise.
