Rail Performance Manager

Rail Performance Manager – Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)

About the Role

Be part of the "city within a city"—Heathrow. Here, engineering excellence meets the demands of millions of daily passengers and the complexities of a world-leading airport. As a Rail Performance Manager, you’ll shape the future of our rail operations, ensuring seamless passenger journeys while enhancing reliability, performance, and innovation.

With responsibility for 500,000+ assets worth £14bn, this role touches every facet of airport infrastructure—from rail systems to machinery, energy, and beyond. You’ll drive continuous improvement by applying best practice to operational efficiency, asset reliability, and system optimisation. Join a driven, world-class team where mentorship, pride in delivery, and fresh challenges are the norm.

Responsibilities

In this strategic and high-impact role, you will:

  • Lead and develop rail engineering performance and reliability frameworks across Heathrow Rail Business Units (Heavy and Light Rail).
  • Oversee operational performance, including delay attribution, troubleshooting Level 2 and 3 disputes, and resolving conflicts with Network Rail and Train Operating Companies (TOCs).
  • Manage key industry systems: TRUST, Bugle, FRACAS, and Maximo—ensuring their effectiveness in performance tracking.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders—internally (Heathrow departments) and externally (Network Rail, TOCs, suppliers)—to align goals with performance targets.
  • Provide expert insights on contractual and performance matters, translating complex data into actionable advice.
  • Define and implement performance KPIs aligned with industry standards, acting as the Maintenance Team Interface (MTI) contact for joint improvement plans.
  • Lead Significant Performance Incident Reviews, coordinating root-cause analysis and solution development with stakeholders to boost operational and asset reliability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
