Security & Trolley Officers play a vital role in keeping Heathrow's rail stations safe, welcoming and operational. Working across the Central Terminal Area, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 platforms, you will carry out security sweeps, manage passenger trolleys and deliver exceptional customer service to travellers, colleagues and our client. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where your vigilance and professionalism help maintain safety and smooth passenger flow at one of the world's busiest airports.
About The Role
As a Rail and Trolley Security Operative, you will be responsible for:
- Manage passenger trolleys by clearing exits, collecting them from platforms and returning them to holding areas.
- Carry out security sweeps in line with the Station Security Plan.
- Patrol stations to identify unattended items, assess behaviour and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Check seals on critical equipment and emergency exits, reporting and escalating any issues.
- Maintain a polite, friendly and professional manner with passengers, colleagues and the client.
- Apply HOT principles confidently when assessing suspicious items.
- Report any damage or defects that may compromise safety or security.
- Stay alert to activity on site, reporting risks, suspicious behaviour or emergencies immediately.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
