Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Rail Surveyor to join a growing surveying team supporting a range of rail infrastructure projects across London and the surrounding areas.
This role will involve delivering high-quality survey data on rail projects, working within operational railway environments and supporting clients with accurate topographical, engineering, and infrastructure surveys. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking field surveys, processing survey information, and ensuring all deliverables meet client and industry standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor looking to work on a variety of rail projects with a well-established surveying consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake topographical, engineering, and rail infrastructure surveys.
- Establish and maintain survey control networks.
- Carry out track, platform, and rail corridor surveys.
- Produce accurate survey data for project teams and clients.
- Process survey information using industry-standard software.
- Ensure all survey work is completed in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
- Work safely within rail environments and adhere to all relevant rail safety procedures.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and internal teams regarding survey requirements and deliverables.
- Support the delivery of projects within agreed timescales.

Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Rail Surveyor, Engineering Surveyor, or Land Surveyor within the rail sector.
- Experience undertaking topographical and engineering surveys.
- Proficient with Leica, Trimble, or similar survey equipment.
- Strong understanding of survey control, traversing, and data capture techniques.
- Ability to process and interpret survey data accurately.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to project locations across London and the South East.

Desirable Experience
- PTS certification.
- Experience working on Network Rail infrastructure projects.
- Laser scanning experience.
- Monitoring survey experience.
- AutoCAD, N4CE, LSS, or similar survey software experience.
- Knowledge of railway standards and procedures.
