Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass systems coordination, integration, and assurance, ensuring seamless collaboration between contractors and the client in major rail infrastructure projects.

  • Support the management and coordination of design interfaces between:

    • Ferrovial’s raild systems scope
    • Other HS2 contractors (Civils, Stations)
    • The Client Ensuring technical consistency, contractual compliance, and integrated assurance.
  • Implement and maintain Interface Management Plans, including processes for railway system designs integration:

    • System Safety
    • RAM (Risk and Asset Management)
    • Interoperability
    • Security Management
  • Manage systems integration processes from design to construction, including Functional & Architecture Specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

  • Ensure sub-system deliverables consistency across projects and contribute to standardised specifications.

  • Coordinate with:

    • Global contractors
    • Client & designers
    • Internal teams To resolve design interfaces and systems integration challenges.
  • Programme & Information Coordination:

    • Align with the supply chain to deliver efficient and compliant design outputs, demonstrating progressive technical assurance.

    • Collaborate closely with the design supply chain for RAM, System Safety, Interoperability, Electrical Engineering, and Security deliverables—ensuring programme and budget alignment with client requirements.

    • Interface with broader design, assurance, and construction teams, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery by:

      • Coordinating meetings (Birmingham/London inclusive)
      • Chairing Civils & Rail Systems Integration meetings
      • Supporting the client in identifying changes, risks, and opportunities
      • Assisting construction teams with design-system interface management, providing technical support for commercial documentation (e.g., SNCs, NCRs, CEs, and Issues/logs).

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).

  • Chartered status (e.g., CEng ICE or similar) is desirable within professional engineering institutes such as:

    • IMechE
    • PWA Institute
    • INCOSE
  • Ministerial experience in multi-disciplinary rail projects, especially within systems integration scope (HS2, Network Rail or major regional projects preferred).

  • Proven proficiency in:

    • Design coordination
    • Interface modelling tools (CAPE-RAMI* / PD, UKRMAs, or rail-specific standards).
    • Managing safety, interoperability, and RAID/TRACK compliance.
  • Strong understanding of:

    • Railway systems and operating standards (e.g., TCN/IP, INMRS)
    • CDM & CSM regulations
    • Client-specific procurement frameworks
  • Soft Skills:

    • Collaborative, proactive attitude – flourishes in fast-paced, multi-contractor environments.
    • Effective communicator who builds trust across teams and with clients.
