Job Opening: Rail Systems Integration Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Interface Management & Coordination
- Support management and coordination of design interfaces between Contractor’s systems scope and other HS2 contractors (Rail Systems, Civils, Stations) and Client, ensuring:
- Technical consistency
- Contractual compliance
- Integrated assurance
- Maintain Interface Management Plans and relevant processes for railway systems design integration.
- Oversee System Safety, RAM, Interoperability, and Security management for railway projects, adhering to FBRS management plans.
- Support management and coordination of design interfaces between Contractor’s systems scope and other HS2 contractors (Rail Systems, Civils, Stations) and Client, ensuring:

System Integration Process
- Manage design-to-construction integration, ensuring System-Level Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) are updated and maintained.
- Harmonise sub-system deliverables across all projects and work towards standardisation of specifications.

Collaboration & Coordination
- Engage with contractors, Client, Designers, and internal teams to resolve design interfaces and systems integration challenges.
- Coordinate design procurement processes, ensuring supply chain compliance in design, construction, and handover, while providing technical assurance.
- Collaborate with design supply chain (RAM, System Safety, Interoperability, Electrical Engineering, and Security) and align with budgetary and programme constraints.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Charter weekly integration meetings with design, safety, rail systems, and civils teams in Birmingham/London.
- Support Client risk identification and act as an interface coordinator between design and construction teams, resolving system interface-related issues.

Technical & Commercial Support
- Provide technical expertise to commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures).
- Contribute to design standards, RAM, System Safety, and Interoperability compliance.

Key Skills & Qualifications
- Education:
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (desirable: Chartered IMechE, PWA Institute, INCOSE, CEng ICE).
- Experience:
- Advanced experience in major multi-disciplinary rail projects.
- Specialisation in design integration, interface coordination, and assurance documentation for rail projects.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in railway systems standards, operating requirements, and available equipment.
- Expertise in System Safety, RAM, Interoperability, and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR).
- Soft Skills:
- Proactive, collaborative, and problem-solving mindset.
- Strong team player with an innovative, creative approach.
