About The Role

Being able to provide consistent network performance is critically important to all our customers (BT, PlusNet, EE and Emergency Service Network), achieved through implementation of agreed parameter designs and implementation of efficient automated configuration tasks.

Technically defining and deciding upon the solutions for RAN Configuration to make sure the network is maintained to be always as designed, through implementation of state-of-the-art tools across 2G, 4G and 5G.

Accountable for the technical design and continued evolution of Unison and Nokia MantaRay SON supporting Radio Access Technologies (Nokia, Ericsson and Huawei).

The output of this role has a direct impact on:

  • Implementation of radio parameter configuration changes to the network, using and building upon Unison integration to Radio Network Element Manager Design (Huawei U2020/MAE, Nokia MantaRay NM, Ericsson ENM) supporting feature trials and roll outs.
  • Continual improvement of configuration processes through design and implementation of automated deployment and reconciliation tasks.
  • Design of Self Optimising Network routines specific to the BT Radio Access Network.

You will be required to undergo National Security Vetting to SC or NPPV level.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design radio configuration plan tooling based on engagement with performance designers.
  • Working with configuration processes of Network Element Managers and auditing the network data using WIM Unison for 2G, 4G and 5G RAN.
  • Designing open and closed loop automations using Unison and MR-SON, through Python based software development kits.
  • Ensuring that all systems introduced adhere to GDPR and Security Policies.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven Programming experience (Python specifically preferred, but other languages acceptable)
  • SQL query development and IP networking knowledge
  • Have a strong understanding of radio access network
  • Show that you are a clear communicator and able to explain technical concepts
