About the Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join our Edinburgh office on a permanent basis.
As a Paraplanner, you’ll bring a strong understanding of core Financial Planning solutions, shaped by practical exposure to client planning scenarios. You’ll analyse client aims and needs to construct tailored solutions—essential for advisors to communicate effectively with clients.
This role is ideal for someone who excels in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality technical support to wealth managers and clients. You’ll mentor junior team members and assist senior colleagues to ensure tasks are completed timely and to the highest standard.
RBC’s working model expects all employees to be office-based, with limited flexibility for up to 1 day per week remote work, depending on workplace arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed financial plans, suitability reports, and recommendation documents for Wealth Managers.
- Provide support during client review and new client meetings.
- Conduct research and analysis across:
- Investments
- Pensions
- Protection strategies
- Tax planning
- Review client portfolios, ensuring recommendations align with goals, risk tolerance, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Wealth Managers, Administrators, and product providers for smooth advice delivery and implementation.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to the ongoing development of advice processes.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications:
- Must-have: Attainment of the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent) as a minimum.
- Ideal: Progress towards CII Level 6 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent).

Experience:
- Proven experience as a Paraplanner.

Technical Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of financial planning principles, including tax wrappers, pensions, and investments.
- Strong attention to detail.

Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Confidence in using financial planning software.
- Organisation, proactiveness, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable (Nice-to-Have)
- CII Level 6 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (current or completed).
