R&D Project Manager - SaaS (Hybrid, Glasgow, UK)

About the Role
The SaaS team is seeking an R&D Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of projects supporting SAS’s Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings. Our team operates at the forefront of software innovation at SAS, shaping our products into cloud-native, CI/CD-driven solutions built for the future.
This role ensures projects are delivered predictably, aligned to business goals, and executed with high quality across a dynamic, globally distributed environment. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to:
- Drive execution
- Manage dependencies
- Ensure alignment across stakeholders
You’ll operate across the full project lifecycle from planning and estimation through execution and delivery, helping teams navigate complexity in modern CI/CD environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Completes deadline-driven, team-based projects, responsible for:
- Facilitating overall project objectives, goals, and requirements
- Defining project scope and goals with teams and stakeholders
- Plans, prioritizes, implements, and adjusts delivery schedules, scope, resourcing, and quality based on stakeholder consultations
- Negotiates resource needs and coordinates technical resources, including domestic and international teams
- Maintains project documentation, including:
- Project plans
- Schedules
- Issue lists
- Risk registers
- Status reports
- Coordinates, communicates, and facilitates activities between team members and stakeholders to:
- Keep projects on schedule
- Manage conflict
- Coordinates risk mitigation activities and escalations as appropriate
- Manages project scope and expectations, identifying and negotiating conflicts or high-risk areas
- Leverages methodologies, processes, project tools, and best practices to accelerate delivery
- Identifies project dependencies and stakeholder influences, working with relevant teams to ensure final product delivery
- Acts as the central point of contact and interfaces with:
- Legal
- Marketing
- SAS.com

- Coordinates and leads meetings with stakeholders and customers to maintain project momentum

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software project management, preferably in agile environments
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (preferably computer science or related discipline)
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end projects (planning, execution, delivery)
- Strong background in:
- SaaS development
- Continuous delivery (CI/CD) environments
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including:
- Negotiation
- Communication
- Conflict resolution
- Proven experience in a customer-facing project management role
- Proof of right to work in the UK
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
