Job Description
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Research and Development Assistant Manager to join our team in Birmingham. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and executing tax research projects, with a focus on R&D tax incentives and credits within the IT/ Software sector.
As an Assistant Manager your responsibilities will include:
Support and lead on technical discussions with the software team at the client to establish which of the activities undertaken on a project meet the R&D tax criteria as set out in the DSIT guidelines. Prepare and review technical reports and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders. Lead and coordinate on R&D tax engagements, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outputs Analyse complex issues and provide well-reasoned solutions to clients and team members Stay abreast of changes in UK tax legislation, particularly those related to R&D tax credits Manage and mentor junior team members, overseeing their work and professional development Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients when necessary Contribute to the development of new service offerings and methodologies in R&D tax Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive tax solutions to clients Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures and professional standards

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field Previous experience in R&D tax field Proven experience in managing projects and teams Advanced knowledge of UK tax laws and regulations, particularly those related to R&D Expertise in UK tax legislation and HMRC guidelines Proficiency in tax research software and databases Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
