R&D Tax Manager
Leonid Group are exclusively partnered with a leading accountancy practice in the search for an R&D Tax Manager. This is an opportunity to manage a large portfolio of clients and play a huge role in the further development of the Innovation Incentives team. You'll have the scope to shape your own progression within the firm and take on more responsibility, including the chance to expand into wider Corporate Tax, or Incentive products (CA, LRR, PB etc). The role can be based from a number of our client's offices, with hybrid working available.
The opportunity
As an R&D Tax Manager, you will have the ability and motivation needed to:
- Own and manage a client portfolio with higher level of client responsibility, oversee your team’s portfolios and inputting to workflow planning.
- Deliver revenue and profitability targets.
- Foster enduring client relationships.

Day to day duties
- Identifying qualifying R&D activities and expenditure through participation in technical & financial discussions with clients for new and repeat claims.
- Leading R&D discussions/workshops on clients, providing a clear explanation of the definition of R&D for tax purposes and discussing in detail, sector specific examples of qualifying activities.
- Managing client & stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
- Proactively demonstrating that you can identify risks in claims.
- Compiling technical & financial project reports to illustrate eligible activities to support R&D claims with strong attention to detail and first-time accuracy.
- Project managing day to day aspects of the claims, setting timescales for delivery, talking confidently with clients to explain various judgements made in claim compilation and their implication.
- Formulating an initial response to defending claims in the event of HMRC R&D enquiries.
- Developing your own knowledge and skills in R&D tax relief and other related issues, to keep technical knowledge fully up to date in this evolving landscape.

- Exposure to multiple sectors would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong background in delivering robust R&D tax claims corporate tax background coupled with significant provable experience in R&D claims.
- Technical knowledge and the ability to carry out research into complex areas of tax legislation.
