As part of its continued growth and product development strategy, our client is looking for an experienced R&D Technical Manager to lead its Research & Development department.

🎯 Context

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will manage a team of four engineers and technicians responsible for developing the company's next generation of products.

This is a hands-on management role. Beyond leading the team, you will remain close to product development, engineering challenges and workshop activities, ensuring that projects progress efficiently from concept to industrialization.

🔧 The Role

As R&D Technical Manager, your mission will be to drive the development of innovative electronic products while ensuring technical excellence, project delivery and team performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team of four engineers and technicians.
  • Define and coordinate the R&D roadmap in collaboration with the CTO.
  • Drive the complete product development lifecycle from concept through validation and industrialisation.
  • Contribute directly to electronic design and technical problem-solving when required.
  • Oversee mechanical enclosure development – casing - in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure products meet performance, quality, manufacturing and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate prototype development, testing and validation activities.
  • Support continuous improvement of R&D processes and engineering methodologies.
  • Work closely with production, purchasing and quality teams to ensure smooth product introduction.
  • Foster an innovative, collaborative and enthusiastic engineering culture.

👤 Candidate Profile

Education

  • Master's Degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.

Technical Skills

  • Strong background in electronic design and development.
  • Good understanding of mechanical design, particularly product housing and enclosures – casing.
  • Proven experience managing Research & Development projects.
  • Previous experience leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical involvement.

🎁 Contract & Benefits

  • Salary base: £42,000 to £50,000 gross per year – depending on profile and experience
  • Salary performance-related bonus: £2,500 to £6,000 gross per year – depending on profile and experience
