Lead React Engineer

Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid – 2-3 days per week in the office)

Day Rate: £400 per day

Contract Length: 6-Month Contract

Are you a senior or lead-level frontend expert who loves building slick, scalable, and highly accessible user interfaces? We are looking for a Lead React Engineer to join our team in Sheffield for an exciting 6-month project.

If you thrive on solving complex architecture puzzles, mentoring junior devs by example, and writing pristine TypeScript, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Architect & Build: Drive the development of high-performance production web applications using React and modern frontend tooling.
  • Optimize & Debug: Dive into existing codebases to hunt down bugs, implement functional enhancements, fix layout issues, and level up overall code quality.
  • System Design: Own frontend architecture decisions—from state management and component design to smart data fetching, caching, and performance tuning.
  • Champion Accessibility: Ensure our digital products are inclusive, delivering seamless experiences aligned with WCAG practices.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Expertise in React, ES6+, and TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong grasp of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
  • Experience with testing frameworks.

The Setup

This is a hybrid role based in our Sheffield office. You’ll need to be in the office 2-3 days a week to collaborate with the team face-to-face, with the remaining days working remotely.
