Senior Lead Software Engineer (Equities Derivatives & Risk Technology) – J.P. Morgan Chase
An exciting and rewarding opportunity to accelerate your software engineering career within the Equities Derivatives and Risk Technology team at JPMorgan Chase.
You will play a key role in an agile environment, driving the design and enhancement of market-leading technology solutions. Your focus will be hands-on in building a critical, trader-facing Risk Management UI, utilising React and TypeScript, alongside mentoring and guiding junior team members on best development practices. Your technical expertise will directly influence business outcomes by delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges across multiple systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot innovative software solutions to address technical challenges, ensuring the delivery of robust and scalable systems.
- Develop and maintain secure, high-quality production code in React and TypeScript, while conducting thorough code reviews and debugging for the wider team.
- Drive the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including:
- AI-assisted code review and refactoring
- Automated testing acceleration
- Incident and root-cause analysis
- Release readiness validation
- Establish measurable validation standards for AI outputs, ensuring correctness, performance, and security within the Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Leverage SDLC toolchain automation to improve efficiency, including:
- CI/CD integration
- Resilience and security testing
- Automated code deployment and remediation
- Automate recurring operational challenges to reduce risk and enhance application stability.
- Lead technical evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural feasibility and integration compatibility.
- Champion Software Engineering communities of practice, fostering the adoption of new and emerging technologies across the organisation.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
- Formal education in software engineering, supplemented by advanced proficiency in React.
- Strong experience with automation and CI/CD methodologies, as well as DevOps best practices.
- In-depth understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from planning to deployment.
- Advanced knowledge of agile frameworks, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and cybersecurity.
- Proven expertise in implementing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, test acceleration, review assistance) while ensuring AI outputs meet:
- Correctness
- Performance benchmarks
- Security compliance standards
- Experience in responsible AI engineering workflows, emphasising:
- Data sensitivity
- Secure handling of inputs/outputs
- Adherence to institutional resiliency and security policies
- Practical coaching for senior engineers/leads on compliant AI usage patterns and controls.
- Technical experience in complimentary domains, such as cloud computing, AI/ML, or mobile development.
- Hands-on proficiency in developing complex, volumetric web applications using React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with modern frontend build tools, including:
- Webpack
- Create React App
- Vite
- Demonstrated ability to write secure TypeScript for production environments.
- Unwavering commitment to code quality, including:
- Automated testing (e.g., Jest, Cypress, @testing-library/react)
- Performance benchmarking
