Location: Haringey / North London
Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum + Company Vehicle + Overtime + Training
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Reactive Fire Alarm & AOV Engineer to join our growing team. This role is focused on reactive maintenance, fault finding, emergency call-outs, small works, commissioning, and repairs across fire alarm and AOV/smoke control systems.
The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver with excellent diagnostic skills and experience working on a wide range of fire alarm and smoke ventilation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend reactive call-outs and diagnose faults on fire alarm and AOV systems.
- Service, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems.
- Carry out small works, modifications, and remedial repairs.
- Install fire alarm systems in accordance with BS5839.
- Commission fire alarm systems and create basic Cause & Effect (C&E) programming.
- Download, upload, configure, and fault-find on fire alarm control panels.
- Replace conventional, addressable, and wireless devices.
- Conduct site surveys and identify upgrade opportunities.
- Fault-find and repair AOV and smoke control systems.
- Replace actuators, control equipment, and associated AOV components.
- Complete service reports, commissioning documentation, and compliance paperwork.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.

Essential Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Fire Alarm Engineer.
- Proven experience in reactive maintenance and fault finding.
- Experience installing fire alarm systems to BS5839.
- Experience commissioning fire alarm systems and creating basic Cause & Effect (C&E).
- Experience carrying out small works and remedial repairs.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Fire Alarm Systems
Strong working knowledge of:
- EDA
- Kentec
- C-TEC
- Haes
- Advanced
- Morley
Experience with additional manufacturers is highly desirable.
Candidates should be able to:
- Download and upload panel configurations.
- Commission and modify systems.
- Diagnose and rectify system faults efficiently.
Wireless Fire Systems

Standards & Compliance
- Good understanding of BS5839.
- Ability to survey existing systems and recommend upgrade works.
- Understanding of fire alarm compliance requirements and best practice.
AOV & Smoke Control Systems
Experience working with:
- Teal
- Actulux
- WindowMaster
- SE Controls
- Easi-Vent
Candidates must have:
- Strong understanding of AOV system operation.
- Knowledge of Cause & Effect requirements for smoke control systems.
- Experience fault finding on AOV systems.
- Experience replacing actuators and associated AOV components.
- Ability to diagnose and repair smoke control system faults.
- Understanding of smoke ventilation compliance requirements.
Desirable Qualifications
- FIA qualifications and training.
- Manufacturer certifications across fire alarm and AOV systems.
- Electrical qualifications.
- ECS/CSCS card.
- IPAF and PASMA certifications.
