The Opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional to join a dynamic and growing practice in a senior management role.
You will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, financial reporting and advisory services, while supporting the Partners in the continued growth and success of the firm.
This is a specialist Accounting & Advisory position and does not include audit or assurance responsibilities.
Important: Applicants must have substantial and recent experience managing accounting and advisory engagements, including statutory financial reporting, consolidated financial statements and business advisory services within an accountancy practice.
Candidates whose experience is predominantly in external audit, without significant accounting and advisory experience, will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of accounting and advisory clients across a wide range of industries.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact.
- Review and oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements, management accounts and consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, the Companies Act 2006 and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical accounting advice and commercially focused solutions to clients.
- Manage client engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior members of the Accounting & Advisory team, promoting technical excellence and professional development.
- Work closely with the Partners to identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
- Maintain the highest standards of technical quality, professional ethics and client service.

Candidate Requirements
Professional Qualifications & Experience
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- A minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience gained with a Top 20 UK accountancy firm.
- A valid General Practising Certificate (GPC).
- Demonstrable experience managing accounting and advisory engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Existing Partners, Principals and sole practitioners are also encouraged to apply.
Technical Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, the Companies Act 2006 and UK financial reporting requirements.
- Extensive experience in the preparation, review and oversight of consolidated financial statements for UK and international group structures.
- Proven experience managing a substantial portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality accounting, financial reporting and advisory services.
- Strong technical expertise in statutory accounts preparation, corporation tax compliance, financial reporting and corporate reporting.
- Ability to research and interpret accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements, providing practical and commercially focused advice to clients.
Leadership & Client Management
- Proven ability to manage a substantial client portfolio while delivering exceptional levels of client service.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing professional staff.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the firm.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Communication & IT Skills
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Highly computer literate, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Proven experience using IRIS, Caseware, Xero, Sage and other leading accounting, tax and practice management software.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex accounting, financial reporting and business issues and develop practical, commercially focused solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgement and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to technical accuracy.
- Ability to identify risks, recommend appropriate courses of action and implement effective solutions.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities, working under pressure and consistently meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
