Asset Manager - Harbert European Real Estate Team
We are seeking an Asset Manager to join the Harbert European Real Estate team in London. The role will report to the Head of Asset Management but work closely with senior members of the wider investment, portfolio management, and finance teams. The position will provide direct exposure to the active management of real estate investments and funds across the UK and Europe across multiple sectors. The role carries ownership of assigned assets and the expectation to form a view, defend it, and own delivery of the business plan end to end.
Role Description
- Own the active management of assigned real estate investments across the UK and Europe, with a focus on performance, execution, and long-term value creation.
- Work closely with operating partners and third-party advisers on leasing activity, capital expenditure programmes, ESG initiatives, asset performance, and operations.
- Own asset-level KPIs, budgets, cash flows, leasing progress, milestones, and variance analysis against business plans.
- Regularly update financial models, incorporating actuals, revised assumptions, forecasts, and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making across the wider portfolio.
- Contribute to annual budgets, quarterly reporting, valuation processes, investment committee materials, and lender and investor requirements.
- Prepare clear materials for senior leadership, highlighting key performance drivers, risks, strategic progress, and recommended next steps.
- Undertake market, sector, and economic research to support asset-level and portfolio-level decisions.
- Participate in site visits and support the oversight of operating partners, property managers, leasing agents, consultants, valuers, and other service providers.
- Drive improvements in reporting standards, data quality, Excel-based models, dashboards, internal processes, and the use of technology, automation, and AI tools across the wider portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
