Senior / Principal Associate – Housing & Regulations | 5+ PQE

BCL Legal is proud to support a forward-thinking leading UK law firm in recruiting a senior or principal associate to reinforce its elite Housing & Regeneration practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-growth real estate team, advising on cutting-edge affordable housing and residential development transactions.
The Opportunity

Lead one of the UK’s most respected Housing & Regeneration teams, recognised for its expertise in critical affordable housing and regeneration projects.

Drive complex development portfolios with full client accountability from Day One, alongside industry-leading partners and specialists.
Key Responsibilities
The role demands multi-disciplinary experience:
- Advise registered providers, developers, and funders across a range of affordable housing and residential deals.
- Lead transactions including:
- Section 106 acquisitions
- Golden bricks, turnkey projects, and package deals
- Land acquisitions, disposals, and dispositive arrangements
- Draft and negotiate high-value agreements:
- Conditional contracts
- Option agreements
- Promotion agreements
- Contractual arrangements under overage provisions
- Manage leasehold structures, funding agreements, and portfolio governance.
- Oversee transactions from instruct through completion with commercial empathy.
- Be the primary client liaison, delivering pragmatic, cost-effective advice.
- Collaborate with developers, funders, and clients to expedite deals efficiently.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers within the team.
- Contribute to business development, nurturing long-term client relationships.

About You
We seek an experienced real estate associate (5+ years PQE) with this profile:
- Focused on affordable housing, residential development, or commercial real estate.
- Proven ability to manage complex transactions independently with a sharp legal/transactional judgement.
- Exceptional drafting and negotiation talents—policy initiatives and devising workable solutions.
- Commercial pragmatism—a robust mix of technical precision and client-focused strategy.
- Confident in engaging directly with stakeholders, maintaining strategic relationships.
- Repeatedly rise teams—supervising and mentoring juniors with clarity and expertise.
- Robust organisational skills to juggle urgent and high-value tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Eagerness to chart a leadership trajectory within a growing reputable specialisation.
