Real Estate Team Leader (Claims Team Leader)

Location: Glasgow - Hybrid, GLG, GB Company: McLarens

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Claims Team Leader for our Real Estate team based in Glasgow. This office-based role reports to the Casualty Lead and provides critical management support to desk-based adjusters, ensuring the success of the Real Estate TPA team.


Key Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing a team of desk-based claims handlers to deliver the highest standards of customer service to our clients.
  • Motivating the team to achieve targets, personal goals, and efficiency in workloads.
  • Overseeing the allocation of new claims and ensuring equitable distribution.
  • Managing and reviewing Real Estate reports for internal distribution.
  • Handling technical referrals from team members and providing guidance or escalation where necessary.
  • Ensuring full coverage for absences, holidays, and workload gaps.
  • Maintaining and updating the holiday calendar/authorisations.
  • Conducting monthly 1-to-1 meetings with the team, including appraisals in alignment with McLarens’ timelines.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the progress of desk-based claims to ensure timely resolution.
  • Identifying training needs within the team and implementing improvements.
  • Supporting account management as required.
  • Handling complaint calls received in the team.
  • Supporting ad hoc or escalated duties as necessary.

Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience in property (domestic, home, or commercial) related claims.
  • Strong managerial experience, including 3+ years successfully working as a team leader, supervisor, or similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely, and professionally.
  • Effective decision-making under pressure in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • A track record of excellent stakeholder management, balancing multiple priorities and conflicting demands.
  • A highly motivated and results-driven attitude, committed to exceeding team goals.
  • Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and relevant claims software.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed; highly organised and adaptable to changing demands.
