Reception & Administration Lead
Reception & Administration Lead
Are you a calm, organised and compassionate team leader who can help create a warm and professional first impression for everyone who contacts or visits St Catherine’s Hospice?
We’re looking for a Reception & Administration Lead to oversee the smooth running of our reception function, supporting our receptionists and volunteers to provide a welcoming, sensitive and efficient experience for patients, families, visitors, colleagues, and supporters.
This is a hands-on role with a regular presence on reception, including daily lunch cover, holiday cover, and additional support during busy periods. However, it is not primarily a receptionist role. A key part of the post is taking responsibility for the administration, coordination and processes that sit around reception, so our receptionists can focus on visitors, callers, and the people using our services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
