Receptionist

Located just 8 miles from Edinburgh, the castle combines heritage charm with modern comforts, appealing to leisure and special-occasion travelers. Team members work in a unique hospitality environment where attention to detail and guest care are central. The location in Bonnyrigg provides a tranquil setting while remaining conveniently close to the city.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Receptionist role based at Dalhousie Castle in Bonnyrigg. The Receptionist is responsible for welcoming guests on arrival, managing check-in and check-out procedures, and providing information about the castle, facilities, and local area. Daily tasks include answering phone and email inquiries, handling reservations and room allocations, processing payments, and maintaining accurate guest records. The role also involves coordinating with housekeeping and other departments, addressing guest requests or issues promptly, and ensuring the reception area remains organized and presentable. The Receptionist is expected to deliver professional, courteous service at all times and support the overall guest experience.

- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Proficiency in receptionist duties, including check-in/check-out processes, reservations handling, and front desk operations.
- Sound phone etiquette and the ability to manage multiple calls and inquiries efficiently and courteously.
- Clerical skills such as data entry, record keeping, basic office administration, and use of booking or property management systems.
- Previous experience in hospitality or front-of-house roles is beneficial.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment.
- Comfort working in an on-site role, including potential evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
- Basic IT skills and numeracy, with reliability and a professional, guest-focused attitude.
