Receptionist
Receptionist – Bupa Dental Care Newtownabbey Practice, Northern Ireland
Hours: 40 Hours per week: Monday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Tuesday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Wednesday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Thursday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
About the Role
Be the friendly face that makes every patient feel at ease from the very moment they arrive.
At Bupa Dental Care, our receptionists are the first and most important point of contact for our patients—welcome them warmly, support them throughout their visit, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll be at the heart of the practice, helping us deliver the exceptional customer care we’re known for.
Responsibilities
As a Receptionist, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive experience for every patient:

Customer experience at its core
- Warmly greet patients both in person and over the phone
- Answer queries efficiently and professionally
- Ensure a relaxed, welcoming, and stress-free environment

Appointment and diary management
- Handle bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling smoothly and effectively
- Keep the practice running efficiently and punctually

Supporting patients confidently
- Explain processes, treatment options, and private vs. NHS services
- Assist with payment transactions
- Help patients understand their financial and insurance options

Reliable administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Manage confidential information with discretion
- Ensure a professional and welcoming reception area

Problem-solving with empathy
- Handle concerns and complaints professionally and fairly
- Aim to resolve issues positively and effectively

- Team collaboration
- Support clinicians with smooth handovers for patient transitions
- Assist the Practice Manager with administrative duties
- Contribute to the smooth running of the practice
Requirements & Skills
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Are people-focused, empathetic, and passionate about creating positive experiences
- Bring previous experience in a customer-focused role, such as reception, admin, or customer service
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone
- Are confident using IT systems (appointment scheduling, records management)
- Can approach work with proactiveness, flexibility, and a willingness to help
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and dedication to delivering excellent service
- Are comfortable promoting and upselling Bupa Dental Care products, including plans, finance, and insurance claims
