Receptionist | Administrator
Spire Manchester Hospital | Permanent | Part-time | 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £12.76 per hour (+ excellent benefits)
About the Role
Spire Manchester Hospital is seeking a skilled Receptionist/Administrator to join their admin team in a permanent, part-time role. Based at their purpose-built private hospital in Didsbury (Manchester), this role supports a world-class healthcare provider with cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments.
You’ll play a crucial part in delivering exceptional customer service while upholding professional conduct, confidentiality, and administrative excellence.
Contract & Working Hours
- Contract type: Permanent, Part-time
- Hours per week: 22.5 hrs (5.5 shifts weekly)
- Shifts: Varied across Monday–Sunday, between 6:30am and 20:00pm
Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing an efficient administrative service in line with hospital policies and procedures.
- Welcoming, registering, and directing patients, consultants, and staff in a proactive, warm, and professional manner while exceeding expectations.
- Admitting patients to rooms as per procedures, ensuring The accurate processing of credit card payments (in-person/telephone).
- Assisting with in-patient/out-patient bookings—updating systems, admitting/discharging patients, and validating bed status reports.
- Managing the hospital switchboard, ensuring calls/enquiries are handled promptly.
- Conducting clerical duties such as:
- Ordering distribution of newspapers.
- Issuing visitor badges.
- Booking taxis.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with experience in a reception/customer-facing role, such as:
- No formal qualifications required, but the ability to:
- Communicate clearly and professionally.
- Present properly in a healthcare environment.
- Customer service expertise: maintaining high standards under pressure, resolving difficult situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, confident in telephone communications.
- Computing proficiency (MS Office suite) and ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external clients.
- Availability for varied shifts (including weekends).
