Job Overview
This is an opportunity to make a difference by supporting colleagues and helping patients in our Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department.
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and proactive individual who has exceptional multi-tasking skills to manage the outsourcing of referrals, maintaining accurate records and updating patient outcomes appropriately and assist with the smooth running of a busy reception area.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve a mixture of administration and reception duties including managing outsourcing of referrals and all associated administration tasks, along with greeting patients, entering information onto Millennium, booking appointments, making/receiving telephone calls and other administrative duties as required. The role is intended to be flexible.
Competent computer skills are essential and a cheerful, friendly and flexible approach to the workload is necessary. This is a busy role which will involve multi-tasking with ever changing priorities.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English and Mathematics
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and previous experience of using Trust computer systems (i.e. Millennium)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge & Previous experience of working in the NHS or similar patient/customer focused environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working on a reception desk
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- IT literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office- Word, Outlook, Excel
- The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and staff at a range of levels, including on the telephone.
