The Opportunity

Join Bellway, the UK’s largest house builder, as our Durham Division’s Receptionist within the Administration team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming Guests:

    • Meet and greet all visitors, ensuring a warm, professional welcome.
  • Reception Maintenance:

    • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the reception area.
  • /minor repairs/updates:

    • Report cleaning, maintenance, IT, or health & safety concerns immediately to the Office Manager.

  • Telephone Handling:

    • Answer both internal and external calls promptly, with a friendly, professional demeanour.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Assisting colleagues with general tasks such as:
      • Typing or preparing reports and letters.
      • Ordering stationery.
    • Daily postal dispatch coordination.

Essential Criteria

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Receptionist.

  • Academic:

    • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent organisational and administration skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills—especially under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and focus sustainably.
  • A problem-solving, proactive attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with adaptability to new technologies.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Working Arrangements

  • Hours: 37.5 hours/week (including flexibility to cover early shifts).
  • Conditions:
    • Lone working may be required.
