Job Level & Arrangement
- Substantive post
- Part-time (8 hours per week)
- Band 3 (on successful completion of competencies)
- Salary range: £29,103 – £31,409 per annum (pro rata)
- Distant Island Allowance: £2,578 per annum (pro rata)
- Initial Salary: Band 2 (£26,696 – £28,988 pro rata) upon appointment, rising to Band 3 upon completion of key competencies.
About the Role
Are you organised, approachable, and ready to support frontline healthcare delivery? Join our reception team at Gilbert Bain Hospital, becoming a key contact for patients, staff, and visitors.
As the first point of contact, this role is crucial in ensuring timely responses, effective communication, and resource coordination for both patients and hospital departments. The Gilbert Bain Hospital Reception serves as an essential service centre supporting wider healthcare provision in the Shetland community.
Responsibilities
- Provide frontline greeting and administrative support for visitors, patients, and colleagues.
- Ensure timely routing of messages, appointments, and hospital inquiries.
- Coordinate and organise internal communications across hospital and community teams.
- Act as the main liaison point for visitors, including directions, guidance, and direction to departments.
- Maintain organized records and documentation in line with hospital protocols.
- Assist in safeguarding adherence (where relevant) within healthcare environments.
