Receptionist – York Hospital | Customer Support Role
Permanent contract | Part-time | £25,038 pro rata (16 hours per week) Hours: Monday to Thursday, 16:00–20:00 | Outpatient Reception

The Role
We’re looking for a compassionate, organised Receptionist to support our outpatient team at York Hospital with:
- Delivering high-quality customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues
- Managing front-of-house duties, including:
- Greeting patients warmly and directing them to appropriate areas (changing/waiting rooms)
- Booking appointments, answering phone enquiries, and handling incoming requests
- Providing clear, empathetic explanations for clinical information or administrative processes
- Administrative tasks, such as:
- Preparing clinical paperwork, referral forms, charge sheets, and terms and conditions
- Ensuring smooth departmental operations through close collaboration with colleagues
- Maintaining episode of care data in electronic systems

What We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will have: ✔ Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with a focus on clarity and empathy ✔ IT proficiency and keyboarding skills for efficient data entry ✔ Experience in healthcare administration or a receptionist role (preferred) ✔ A customer-centric mindset and the ability to de-escalate queries professionally ✔ Reliability for part-time hours, including evenings (Mon–Thu, 4–8pm)
