About the Role
An exciting fixed-term contract opportunity has arisen within our Front Desk team for a Receptionist, supporting the team during a period of extended leave and assisting with operations until after The Open 2027.

Our Receptionists are the face and brand ambassadors of the Old Course Hotel, passionate about providing excellent customer service and looking after our guests—from a warm and cheerful greeting right through to the heartfelt goodbye.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming our guests with a cheerful and professional greeting.
- Checking guests into the hotel, ensuring they complete their registration card to required legal standards, and taking relevant action to prevent ‘Walk Out’ guests.
- Advising, recommending, and upselling to best satisfy our guests' needs while maximising hotel revenue.
- Explaining in-room facilities and making guests aware of nearest fire exits.
- Recognising guests travelling under loyalty schemes such as Fine Hotel and Resort or iPrefer.
- Greeting guests in a friendly manner and leading their check-out process.
- On check-out, ensuring their stay was satisfactory.
- Providing and explaining their bill and any charges.
- Thanking guests for staying and extending a sincere invitation to return.
Additionally, you will handle:
- Money management: counting and keeping track of floats during/at the end of shifts, ensuring a varied assortment of cash, ordering when applicable, and rectifying any discrepancies.
- Being knowledgeable about the hotel’s history, offerings—including the Kohler Waters Spa, Food & Beverage outlets, Dukes Course—and local attractions, amenities.
- Adhering to all policies and procedures to ensure adherence to code of conduct and no gestures of inappropriate compassion.
Key Requirements
For this role, you will need:
Essential:
- Ability to be well-presented.
- Efficiency, strong administration and organisation skills under pressure.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with comfort engaging with a diverse range of people.
- Willingness to go the extra mile.
- Good telephone manner and skills.
- Punctuality with strong time management skills.
- Strong IT capabilities.

Role Details
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Contract Type: Fixed-term, expiring 19th July 2027
- Salary: £27,663.31 per annum
