Welcome Team Coordinator
Location: Deptford Surgery Department: Patient Welcome Compensation: £25,000 - £26,500 per year (permanent, full-time) Application Deadline: 30 June 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a Welcome Team Coordinator to offer a warm, professional and supportive in-person experience for patients at Deptford Medical Centre or Penrose Surgery.
This front-of-house, patient-facing role focuses on:
- Welcoming patients
- Ensuring safe patient flow
- Contributing to proactive patient care
Patients may arrive unwell, anxious, stressed, or worried – this role involves providing a compassionate listening ear while ensuring accurate patient records and effective clinical support.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors in person
- Support smooth and safe patient flow throughout consultations
- Use empathy and conflict-resolution skills to manage challenging situations
- Accurately collect and record patient observations and vital signs
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment in reception areas
- Escalate urgent or serious in-person concerns to relevant team members
About You
What We’re Looking For
- A fascination with helping people on a daily basis
- Strong, clear, and compassionate communication skills
- Ability to stay calm, professional, and resilient under pressure
- Organisational skills with comfort using IT systems
- A collaborative mindset and genuine commitment to high-quality patient experience
- (Healthcare experience is helpful but not required – full training provided!)

Working Patterns
- Rotating shifts covering opening and closing (No middle-of-the-day-only shifts available.)
- 37.5 hours per week
- Compressed hours (8:00 AM to 6:30 PM)
- Flexible shifts including early and late rotations
Essential: Willingness to open and close the practice, including locking up and ensuring security.
