Receptionist – Part Time

Receptionist – Part Time (22.5hrs/week) – Cygnet Hospital Maidstone

Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is our state-of-the-art, 65-bed mental health facility for adults, located within the new Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone.

We are looking for a friendly and experienced Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis to provide a professional and welcoming reception experience.


The Role

You will be working 22.5hrs per week, covering 3 days a week on a rota basis, so you’ll need to be flexible.

The ideal candidate must be:

  • Adaptable and well-presented
  • Friendly, with excellent communication skills
  • Capable of performing core reception duties, including:
    • Welcoming all visitors / staff
    • Maintaining security procedures
    • Efficient use of the hospital switchboard

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional, welcoming reception experience
  • Greet visitors and notify the appropriate member of staff of their arrival
  • Ensure visitors sign in and out and that patients leaving / returning are correctly recorded
  • Answer and transfer all incoming calls, taking messages where necessary
  • Sort and distribute post
  • Assist with general office duties as required
  • Maintain a clean and tidy reception area
  • Promote safety and security across the site, ensuring staff comply with protocols

Person Specification

You are:

  • An experienced receptionist / administrator skilled in working with customers/clients
  • Organised, naturally helpful, and a good multitasker
  • Computer literate (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, or equivalent)
  • Familiar with telephone systems
  • Polite, friendly, and approachable, with strong communication skills
  • GCSE qualified in Maths & English, demonstrating a good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Diligent and accurate, with meticulous attention to detail and an understanding of confidentiality

Note: Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
