About the Role

The Spectator is a renowned publication with a long history of delivering insightful, thought-provoking, and high-quality journalism. Known for its wit, intelligence, and diverse perspectives, The Spectator continues to set the standard in commentary on politics, culture, and current affairs.

We are looking for a friendly, organised and professional part-time receptionist to be the welcoming face of The Spectator. This is a varied front-of-house role, ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of a busy office.

The successful candidate will provide an excellent first impression for visitors while supporting the wider team with general reception and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist guests, visitors and clients in a warm and professional manner
  • Manage the reception desk and ensure the front-of-house area is tidy and presentable
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Monitor the main entrance, greet arrivals and manage access to the building
  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming post and arrange outgoing mail
  • Coordinate courier deliveries and collections
  • Order and maintain office supplies, ensuring stock levels are kept up to date
  • Provide general administrative support as required
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure the office runs efficiently and visitors receive an excellent experience

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a receptionist, front-of-house, customer service, or administrative role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Professional and approachable manner
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work independently
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
