Receptionist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH)

As a Receptionist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), you will play a vital role as the first point of contact for our patients and visitors. You’ll provide a warm welcome, deliver exceptional customer service, and support clinical and administrative teams to ensure a smooth patient journey.

Responsibilities

  • First Point of Contact: Greet patients and visitors, manage a busy reception area, and handle a range of enquiries both in person and by phone or email.
  • Patient Registration and Check-in: Register patients, check them in for appointments, update electronic health records accurately, and support the coordination of busy outpatient clinics.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactive in spotting and resolving issues that could affect patient flow or clinic outcomes — for example, rescheduling appointments, escalating delays, or resolving booking discrepancies.
  • Support and Liaison: Support patients who need reassurance or additional assistance, and liaise closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to keep services running smoothly.
  • Additional Duties: Arrange interpreters and transport when required, maintain confidentiality at all times, and contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting practical solutions to everyday challenges.
  • Flexibility and Teamwork: Provide support across different areas within your department as needed.
