The Role

We are looking for a friendly and organised Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our guests. As a key member of our front-of-house team, you will set the tone for their arrival and help ensure a smooth operation at the restaurant. Your responsibilities will include managing reservations, greeting guests, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

What You'll Do

  • Greet guests warmly and ensure they feel valued from arrival
  • Manage reservations and table allocations to support smooth service and efficient turnover
  • Respond to phone and email enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Handle booking amendments, deposits, cancellations and no-shows
  • Monitor upcoming bookings, dietary requirements and special occasions
  • Manage VIPs, regular guests, special requests and complaints confidently
  • Support and train the reception team, delegate tasks and prepare clear handovers
  • Work closely with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service
  • Assist with reports, guest feedback and general administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a receptionist or in a similar customer service role (approx. 1-2 years)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanour
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to manage reservations effectively
  • Proficient in using Opentable, Sevenrooms systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
  • The legal right to work in the UK and flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required

Benefits

  • Competitive Pay & Earning Potential
    • £15.50 - £17.00 per hour typical take-home pay, including a discretionary share of the service charge (tronc)
    • £36,270 - £40,000 indicative annual earnings (based on a 45-hour week)
  • Hours & rota: full-time, 5 days over 7 including evenings and weekends; rotas shared in advance
  • Holiday: 29 days per year including public holidays (pro rata)
